Nendaz is 166km from Geneva and driving from the airport to Nendaz takes about 2 hours or more on busy transfer days. Take the A9 motorway to Sion and take the exit Sion-Ouest towards Nendaz. From there it takes about a quarter of an hour to resort along hairpin bends. If driving to Nendaz from outside Switzerland don’t forget to buy a road tax vignette, available at garages and motorway service stations.
Airport Transfers by Public Transport
Public transport is cheaper but less convenient. First you the train from Geneva Airport to Gare de Sion. The quickest services to Sion are the InterRegio trains or “IR” trains going direct from the airport towards Brig. These are not very frequent, however, so to avoid a long wait you may have to go into city (by bus or train) then catch a train to Sion from the main Geneva station (the fastest ones are the EC services heading to Milan). When you reach Gare Sion, walk from the station to the poste/gare bus station next to it then do the last leg by bus. The 362 goes all the way to the Haute Nendaz Tecabine station. When all the connections work perfectly the whole journey takes about two and a half hours, but a total transfer time of about three hours is more normal. Further details are available from Swiss railways – there is an English language version of the website at www.sbb.ch/en/timetable
