Getting to Belleayre

Belleayre Mountain Ski Center is one of the best day trip options for New York City skiers. The cheapest and quickest way to get there from New York is to drive. The drive time from the New York City Metro area is around 2 hours and 15 minutes (135 miles).  

Although Belleayre is a little farther drive than many Pennsylvania ski resorts, its high base and summit elevations combined with nearly three times the natural snowfall of Pocono ski areas create conditions that are akin to New England. The extra drive time is definitely worth it for skiers whose first priority is top flight conditions, moguls or glades.

Belleyare Mountain Ski Center is around 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes drive from the New York City metro area. Take the New York State Thruway to Kingston (Exit 19). Belleayre is 30 miles west directly off NY-28. NY-28 is generally well-maintained even in winter conditions so 4WD is not required, but is helpful if snow is forecast.

Getting to Belleayre by Rail or Bus

Bus service from Manhattan is available through Trailways of New York. Buses leave from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There is no additional charge for bringing skis or snowboards, but either must be in a zippered bag. There is no direct rail route; the best rail connection is from New York Penn Station (1 hour 25 mins) to Ploughkeepsie then bus (45 mins) via Kingston to Bellayre Mountain bus stop (8-10 mins walk from the ski center).

The overwhelming majority of visitors are skiers living within 2-3 hours drive time from Belleayre Mountain Ski Center. That said, nearest airports to Belleayre are Albany, Newark and New York La Guardia.
