Getting to Mount Baker

Getting to Mount Baker isn’t always easy, particularly when some of the resort’s 600″+ of annual snowfall is coming down. Be sure to check road conditions in advance.

Mount Baker lies at the end of the 57-mile long state highway 542 that runs due east from Bellingham. While Bellingham does have an airport, flights are very limited. Check flights to Seattle Tacoma Airport, a 2:40 drive from the ski area, or to Vancouver Airport, a 2-hour drive pending the border crossing. Driving from accommodations in Bellingham may prove ideal, leaving a 1:25 drive to the slopes. Snow removal services on the Mount Baker Highway are exceptional, but be prepared for delays or slow travel through a zone that gets so much snowfall.
