Getting to Kirchberg

Kirchberg is in the heart of the Tirol and has its own train station. The three nearest airports – Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich – are all within an hour or two’s drive. Hiring a car is useful for visiting other ski resorts nearby, but if you want to stay most of the time in Kirchberg, you can get there by private transfer, train or bus.

Getting to Kirchberg by Rail

With its own rail station Kirchberg is easy to get to by public transport, with trains from all the major cities within the region.

Innsbruck – direct trains run from Innsbruck main station to Kirchberg and take around an hour. To connect to the airport take Bus F, which takes around 15 minutes.

Salzburg – direct trains from Salzburg main station to Kirchberg can take up to 2 hours 45 minutes. It can be quicker to get a train to Worgl and change there for an onward connection to Kirchberg. Buses connect to the airport from the main stations in Salzburg – check the OBB Route Planner for details.

Munich – trains from Munich take between 2 and 2.5 hours and involve a change at Worgl. Trains run regularly from the airport to Munchen Ost and take around half an hour.

Driving to Kirchberg

Driving from Innsbruck airport – 90km to Kirchberg

On exiting the airport follow signs for Salzburg/G?tzens/V?ls E60/A12/A13, staying on the A12 for approximately 60km to W?rgl Ost exit 17. Take the B178, sign-posted Brixental/Sankt Johann in Tirol for around 4 km, then take a right onto the B170 towards Hopfgarten im Brixental. Continue on the B170 for 18km past Hopfgarten, Westendorf, and Brixen im Thale and take the exit onto BrixentalStrasse – the main street into Kirchberg.

Driving from Salzburg airport – 79km to Kirchberg

On exiting the airport take the B1 towards the German border, continue onto the B21 passing through Bad Reichenhall. Stay on the B21 for around 23 km as far as the German/Austrian border. At the border this continues on to the B173 towards Sankt Johann in Tirol for approximately 37km. From there follow signs towards Kitzbuhel, joining the B161 for around 8km. Before reaching Kitzbuhel itself take a right onto the B170 towards Kirchberg, following the road for approximately 5km then turn left onto Kitzbüheler Strasse which leads into the centre of Kirchberg.

Driving from Munich airport – 168km to Kirchberg

On exiting the airport follow M?nchen / A9 then A99/A8 sign-posted Salzburg / Innsbruck. At the exit 101 Dreieck Inntal, bear right and follow the A93/A12 to Innsbruck / Kufstein. Continue on the A12 until exit 17 Worgl Ost, then keep right and follow the B178 towards Sankt Johann in Tirol / Brixental for around 4 km. Then take a right onto the B170 towards Hopfgarten im Brixental. Continue on the B170 for 18km past Hopfgarten, Westendorf, and Brixen im Thale and take the exit onto BrixentalStrasse – the main street into Kirchberg.
