Learn to Ski in Kicking Horse

There are three options for ski schools and guiding in Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

Kicking Horse Ski Schools

The Learning Centre is the definite choice for beginners and intermediates that are looking for a safe, fun way to explore the resort’s terrain. Under the guidance of one of the resorts experienced instructors, you will develop key skills while building confidence to tackle more difficult terrain. Private and group lessons are available in half, single or multi-day packages.

The Discover Snowsport Clinic is a great way for beginners to get introduced to the mountain. Packages include either half or full day lesson, equipment rental, ticket for the Catamount chair and lunch at the Whitetooth Grill. Classes are limited to a maximum of 4 students. The ski school also offers complimentary mountain orientation tours that run twice daily and limited to green and blue trails only.

The ski school also offers telemark lessons for skiers looking to try telemarking for the first time and advanced lessons for seasoned telemark skiers looking to refine their technique.

Private lessons are available for the kids from 3 years onwards. For groups the Ski Care program runs for the 3-5 year olds as a mountain introduction and time on snow is secondary to the kids having fun. Adventure Club runs for 6-12 year olds in single or multi-day programs with groups improving with instruction and mileage. The Wild Riders program is the version for 13-16 year olds. All full day kids programs include a supervised lunch.

Kicking Horse Mountain Guides

For advanced and expert skiers looking to explore the complex off piste terrain at Kicking Horse, there is no better way than to sign up for a guided session at the Big Mountain Centre. The sessions focus on modern ski techniques including how to ski powder on fat skis, avalanche awareness and terrain tactics. Packages are available for one, three and five day programs.

There is a special Hollywood program which includes a professional HD cameraman filming your group for the day. The package includes a guided trip to secret stashes and editing of the footage.

There are also RAW (Real Aggressive Women’s) camps which run on certain days of the month with lunch and dinner included and all female coaches. Wild Child Christmas and Spring Break camps run for 4 days and are geared for intermediate to advanced youth skiers.
