Getting to Meribel by Rail

Nearest train station to Meribel

Meribel is situated in the Les Allues valley and the nearest town is Moutiers (18km), which has a railway station (usually called simply Moutiers but sometimes called called Moutiers-Salins-Brides Les Bains). Trains from Paris depart from the Gare de Lyon and normally take between four and six hours. There are direct trains from Paris and also indirect services which usually involve taking a TGV to Chambery, Aix Les Bains or Lyon, then completing the journey onto Moutiers on either a regional TER train service or a bus.

Eurostar and TGV Rail Services to Moutiers

Eurostar operates services to the French Alps from London St Pancras to Moutiers-Salins-Brides les Bains. Total travel time is between seven and a half hours and ten hours. There are direct trains with no changes, but these usually take slightly longer than services which involve changing in Paris, which necessitates getting from the Gare du Nord to the Gare de Lyon. During the middle of the day, the quickest way to do this is to take RER line D (Direction Melun) which is just two stops. Allowing time to buy tickets and walk to and from platforms, this usually takes between 20 and 40 minutes. But if you have a lot of baggage, a taxi ride might be a better option. 

There are also international Thalys train services direct from Belgium and the Netherlands to Moutiers. From Southern and Eastern Europe, services from Geneva and Milan go via Chambery.

Getting from Moutiers Train Station to Meribel

The quickest way to get from Moutiers station to Meribel, is by taxi / private transfer which you can pre-book online at Ski-Lifts. The journey to the resort from the station is about 18km and should take around 30 minutes in normal road conditions.
