On its doorstep is the Olympic-standard Espace Killy ski area, shared with Val d’Isere, and as the Grande Motte glacier is open for most of the year, there is plenty to do in Tignes in summer as well as winter.

One of 12 Pierre & Vacances Premium Properties, L’Ecrin des Neiges has 55 apartments ranging in size from one-bedroom apartments for three to four people to superior four-bedroom apartments for nine to 10 people. All have a balcony or terrace overlooking the slopes on the Col du Palet and Aiguille Percee, and are spacious with traditionally styled wooden interiors and classic furnishings. Fully equipped kitchens and plenty of storage are standard. There are also three apartments for people with reduced mobility.
Food & Drink
L’Ecrin des Neiges is a convenient mix of hotel service with self-catering space. Order the premium breakfast service and a continental breakfast will be delivered fresh to your door every morning. Or if you’d prefer some flexibility, just order your favourite breads and pastries at reception the night before for delivery to your door the following morning on an ad hoc basis. Superior apartments come with a Nespresso coffee maker, capsules for which are on sale at reception. L’Ecrin des Neiges also offers a home delivery service from the local supermarket.
Spa & Wellness
The Mountain Spa and Beauty centre is next door to L’Ecrin des Neiges, and has an indoor heated pool, sauna, hammam and gym, plus spa treatments. Preferential rates are available – ask at reception.
Skiing in Tignes
Surrounding L’Ecrin des Neiges is the varied and extensive 300km of the Espace Killy, the ski slopes shared with neighbouring Val d’Isere. There is everything from gentle greens and blues to challenging reds, difficult blacks and adrenline-inducing off piste. Tichot is the nearest lift to L’Ecrin des Neiges, and nearby is a halfpipe, large terrain park and freeride area.

PSPs, board games, books and cartoons are all available to borrow from the reception, and Wi-Fi is available throughout L’Ecrin des Neiges free of charge. There is a welcoming lounge area with fireplace to relax in, and a kids’ play room. If needed, baby equipment can be borrowed from reception too, including travel cots, baby chairs, changing mats and baths, and foldaway pushchairs. Covered parking is available at an extra cost.
Getting to Tignes
The TGV train direct from the UK arrives at Bourg St Maurice train station, 31km away. If you are flying, the nearest airports are Chambery (130km), Geneva (165km) or Lyon (240km).
