Val Cenis
Val Cenis has remained relatively untouched by tourism and Lanslebourg, Lanslevillard and Termignon have a more rustic feel than most other French ski resorts, and hotels and apartments are less expensive. But there is luxury accommodation available, particularly in the apartment residences.
Val Cenis Luxury Hotels and Apartments
Val Cenis is one of the cheaper ski resorts to stay in, so some of the luxury options are actually quite affordable.
There are no 5-star super-luxury hotels that we know of but the 4-star, ski-in/ski-out Hôtel Saint Charles Val Cenis in Lanslebourg comes very close, as do some of the 4-star ‘ApartHotels’ such as the 4 star CGH Les Chalets de Flambeau in Lanslebourg which is at the bottom of the ski slopes and within 150m of the ski lifts. Its apartments benefit from an indoor swimming pool, sauna, hammam spa, gym, games area, kids area and concierge services (such as daily fresh bread deliveries). The Residences Les Alpages de Val Cenis, also 4-star and also in Lanslebourg but in the hamlet of Plan des Champs, is similar except the pool is outside and it’s fractionally further from the nearest lift, although you should be able to ski back to it in good conditions. Les Balcons de Val Cenis Village in Lanslevillard is another 4-star complex; this time there is no swimming pool in the residence itself but guests have free access to one 200m away.
Val Cenis Mid-range and Budget hotels and apartments
In Lanslebourg, the Hotel Club MMV Le Val Cenis is a 3-star hotel with indoor swimming pool, sauna and kids’ club less than 50 metres from the ski slopes. La Cle des Champs in Lanslevillard is another 3-star hotel, which is slightly further from the slopes but consistently gets good customer reviews. In Termignon, the 3-star L’Outa Hotel Restaurant is virtually on the slopes so you can ski back to it, and it too gets very high customer ratings.
There are also cheaper hotels, gites, chalets and self-catering apartments. Overall there is a decent range of accommodation but not a huge choice within each category – Val Cenis is too small for that, which is part of its charm – so make a reservation as early as you can.
