Public bus service

During the ski season Altibus has a public bus service from Chambery, Lyon and Geneva Airports  to the Val Cenis resorts. The service is very limited and booking ahead is essential however so check details at www.altibus.com.

Bus transfers from Grenoble seem to be very difficult: please see the Haute Maurienne Vanoise (HMV) website www.haute-maurienne-vanoise.com for details of any service.

Bus transfers from Turin also seem difficult to arrange but there is the option of transferring by train – see below. 

Getting to Val Cenis by Train

Val Cenis is easily reached by train via the TGV station at Modane, which is on the main Paris to Turin TGV line and between 4 hours and 4 hours, 45 minutes from Paris. The Val Cenis villages are about 45 minutes by bus or 30 minutes by taxi from Modane train station. You can book  a taxi/private transfer  online in advance through Ski-Lifts.

To travel to Val Cenis by train from London, take the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord. At the Gare du Nord, take the RER Ligne D, direction Melun, Malesherbes or Corbeil Essonnes for the Gare de Lyon.

Getting to Val Cenis by car

Val Cenis lies off the E70/A43, the main motorway from Albertville or Chambéry which leads to Italy via the Frejus tunnel. The village of Lanslebourg lies on the D1006, which is accessed directly by turning off the E70/A43 via Modane.
