Adelboden Ski Schools
The Swiss Ski & Snowboard School Adelboden is a member of the Swiss Snow League association and offers a wide range of tuition in downhill skiing, telemark, snowboarding and snow safety. The ski school is located in the Tourist Office in the centre of Adelboden and employs up to 80 ski instructors, one of whom was recently voted the best looking ski instructor in Switzerland! The ski school meeting points are in front of Hotel Kreutz off the main street, just a short walk from the Tourist Office. There is also a meeting point in Boden next to the training lifts opposite the Wildstrubel restaurant and further meeting points in the ski area at Geils and Sillerenbuhl. The ski school also runs the Teepee Village which is a special children’s area on the mountain in Geils with two large teepees for children to enjoy breaks in a Red Indian atmosphere. Ski school hours are 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1.30 pm to 6.00 pm from Monday to Friday and from 8:00 am to 6:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Official Snowboard School Adelboden is a member of the association of Swiss Snowboard Schools (SSBS) and has a team of a dozen snowboard instructors offering sampler courses as well as private or group tuition for snowboarders of all ability levels, from beginners to advanced, and including Park & Pipe, Freestyle and Carving. Boards, boots and protective clothing are all available for hire through the snowboard school which also has its own Crazy Sports shop on the main street opposite the Tourist Office. Meeting points are in Adelboden and the Silleren Mountain Lift Car Park.

The Swiss Ski and Snowboard School Frutigen is a small ski school down in the valley in Frutigen with 30 instructors offering private and group lessons (afternoons only), special events including downhill torch parades, corporate ski days and snowshoeing. The ski school meeting point is on Elsigenalp.

Adelboden Mountain Guides
The Alpine School Adelboden offers regular weekly programs in winter covering a wide range of Alpine disciplines such as snowshoeing (by day or night), ice climbing, and indoor climbing as well as freeride skiing and touring off-piste. Alpine School Director Martin Maurer and his team of nearly 20 mountain guides are available for hire on a daily basis and also offer defined programmes with a choice of one day, weekend, 5-day and 7-day tours off-piste.
Easy ski or snowboard tours off-piste in Adelboden – available on request every Tuesday (9am to 2pm) from December until April for confident skiers or boarders who need to be fit enough to hike up for 2-3 hours to enjoy incredible panoramic views before making your descent in deep powder. The routes are suitable for experience off-piste skiers or boarders or “beginners”, and for a minimum of four persons.
Advanced ski tours off-piste in Adelboden – the freeride tour of Wildstrubel or Bunderspitz is offered on Fridays (8am to 5pm) from December until May and is an interesting option for advanced off-piste skiers or boarders. For a minimum of three participants (four for Bunderspitz) able to ski or ride off-piste without falling and fit enough for an ascent of 4-5 hours.
Weekend ski tours and training in Adelboden – the weekend course includes accommodation at the Berghotel in Engstligenalp which is an ideal place to start touring early in the morning. Your safety training includes map reading, studying the latest avalanche bulletin, assessing the conditions for avalanche risks, learning how to use an avalanche transceiver, how to measure slope gradient, ski technique and how to make good tracks in snow. Training sessions are alternated with easy tours and the mountains surrounding the Engstligenalp are ideal for introducing you to ski touring with tours ranging from easy to medium difficulty. Hike up to one of the many mountain peaks to enjoy incredible views of the Alps then ski deep powder back to Engstligenalp and relax in the hot tub and sauna, then the bar. Participants need to be fit enough to complete an ascent of 3-4 hours and able to control a stem turn off-piste.
Full week ski touring in Adelboden – five day and seven day ski tours are also available with different itineraries varied according to weather and avalanche risks and depending on the skills and experience of participants. Touring packages range from five nights on-mountain accommodation at the Berghotel at Engstligenalp with five days guiding to seven nights at the luxury Parkhotel Bellevue in Adelboden with gourmet meals, massages, spa the two or three days ski touring.
