Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School

The Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School facilities are located slopeside at the top of the escalators in Beaver Creek village and offers full day lessons from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Families are especially well catered for and children enrolled in ski school are not required to purchase additional lift tickets. Children are grouped into programs depending on their age and ability levels, with nutritious lunch options and use the state-of-the-art Beaver Creek learning area at the Buckaroo Gondola.

The entire Buckaroo Bowl provides an introductory terrain park for beginners and is used by instructors to enhance and quicken the learning process, helping skiers and riders learn to use their edges on a snow-made “spine” where they learn to shift their weight from edge to edge before tackling the main slopes. The Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School also provides adaptive skiing and snowboarding lessons (with equipment) for guests with special needs and disabilities.

Expert skiers should hire a private instructor guide and try the Talons Challenge—a physical and mental challenge encompassing 13 runs of nearly 24,000 feet of vertical on the most advanced terrain Beaver Creek has to offer. Complete all 13 runs and you’ll get your name on the wall of honor at the Red Tail Camp Lodge at the base of the Bird’s Of Prey downhill course, plus a pin, lanyard and hat to remember the day.

But perhaps the hallmark of the Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School are the individual private lessons offered by first-rate and experienced teachers. Individuals (or small private groups) are given a dedicated instructor to improve technique and style all while having a personal mountain concierge and video analysis. During our last visit, we thoroughly enjoyed the private coaching; and for those looking to push themselves to improve, Beaver Creek’s ski instructors will educate as well as encourage you throughout day…or in our case, politely suggest you hit the gym a little harder before trying the Talons Challenge again.
