Car Rental at Salt Lake City Airport

Renting a car is an easy option, but be advised that 4WD or chains is required to enter Big Cottonwood Canyon at most times during winter. Additionally, Guardsman Pass from Park City to Brighton is closed during winter months. The only way in and out during winter is up the Big Cottonwood Canyon Road which leads up from the valley floor in Sandy, UT.

Follow I-80 from the airport towards downtown Salt Lake City (5 mins) then I-215 south and UT-90 east to Big Cottonwood Canyon Road and follow signs for Brighton.

Utah Transit Authority Ski Bus

Public transportation provided by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) includes the TRAX light rail (Green Line) connection between the airport and downtown Salt Lake City every 15-20 minutes and winter ski bus services between downtown Salt Lake City and Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude ski resorts with services running from November until April most winters. Also, a park and ride parking lot is located at the entrance to Big Cottonwood Canyon in Sandy, UT.
