Getting to Bregenz by Rail then Taxi to Damuls and Mellau
There are direct train services from Zurich airport to Bregenz (1hour 25minutes) three times daily. If you catch an early morning (9:28am Munich) train from Zurich airport as far as Bregenz, then complete your journey by taxi, you can be in Damuls-Mellau in time for lunch and can ski that afternoon. Driving to Damuls and Mellau
From Friedrichshafen airport (Germany) take the B30/A96 direction Lindau / Bregenz, continue via A14/E43/E60 motorway as far as Dornbirn Nord. Or from Memmingen airport (Germany) follow signs for Lindau / F?ssen / Ulm and A96 to Austria and A14 as far as Dornbirn Nord. From Zurich airport, take the A1/A4/E41/A13 then cross the border into Austria at Diepoldsau and follow A14/E16 motorway direction Bregenz / Innsbruck as far as the same Dornbirn Nord exit, then take the B200 Bregenzerwald which winds its way through a sequence of pretty villages for 25km to Mellau or continue as far as Au then the twisting L196 road from Au up to Damuls. Note that the Rankwell-Laternertal-Damuls route is closed in winter so you need drive through Bregenzerwald or Grosses Walsertal.
Damuls and Mellau villages are 20km apart and on opposite sides of the Damuls – Mellau ski area. Driving from one to the other takes around 20 minutes by car or 30 minutes using the efficient free bus service.
