Sonnenkopf accommodation comprises a limited range of small hotels and bed & breakfast guesthouses in traditional Klostertal villages — Klosterle, Wald am Arlberg, Danofen and Langen am Arlberg. Sonnenkopf is also easily reached by bus or car from other Arlberg resorts.
Klostertal Villages near Sonnenkopf
Accommodation in Klostertal is moderately priced and represents good value for money for those looking to stay in a quiet traditional village, with good skiing at Sonnenkopf and easy access (by car, bus or train) to world class Arlberg ski resorts nearby.
The Sonnenkopf ski area is situated between the village of Wald am Arlberg and the small hamlet of Danofen, which offer affordable bed and breakfast in guesthouses, and a couple of small 3-star hotels — the Hotel Garni Stockinger and the Gasthof Spullersee — about 500m from the main ski lift.
Three more villages to the east are Klosterle am Arlberg, Langan am Arlberg (rail connection to St Anton and Innsbruck) and Stuben am Arlberg (lift connection to the main Arlberg ski area). Accommodation in Klostertal
Architecturally, Klostertal is unspoiled with a few traditional family-owned hotels and private guesthouses offering bed and breakfast. Besides the local SPA supermarket, there are no shops and not a great deal happening in the villages and hence not much apres-ski apart from enjoying drinks, dinner and a good book.
The sun terrace at the Bergrestaurant Sonnenkopf is worth visiting and if you have a car and want a change of scene, there are good restaurants nearby in Stuben, Lech and Zurs, and lots of bars in St Anton which could never be described as quiet!
Klostertal has around 600 guest beds, half of which are in small, family-owned hotels and pensions and the rest are in self-catering apartments or privately owned properties in Klosterle, Wald, Langen and Danofen. The hotels are rated 3-star or below and most of the accommodations are not within walking distance of the Sonnenkopf lift so if you don’t have a car it’s worth checking how close your accommodation is to the nearest bus stop.
Two exceptions are the 3-star Hotel Garni Stockinger and the 3-star Gasthof Spullersee – both are about 500m walk from the gondola lift. Likewise, Haus Frainer self-catering apartment is within walking distance (600m) of the lift.
