Getting to Fernie

Getting to Fernie is not easy, but it is worth the trip. Fernie, British Columbia, is located in the Lizard Range of the Canadian Rockies, and on Highway 3 about 40 miles (60 km) from the Alberta – USA border.

Nearest Airports to Fernie

The two nearest international airports are Calgary International Airport, 3.5 hours’ drive away, a distance that has until now kept foreign visitors at bay, and Glacier International Airport in Kalispell, Montana, a two-hour drive. The road to Fernie leads through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. The drive is easy with no major mountain passes and the roads are well maintained. There are no nearby rail connections, but Fernie is serviced twice daily by Greyhound Bus Lines (800-661-8747 or 250-423-6871, www.greyhound.com).

Airport Shuttles & Private Transfers to Fernie

There are several airport transfer companies, offering shuttles, taxis, and even a helicopter, but transfers must be prearranged. The Rocky Mountain Sky Shuttle offers two return trips daily between Calgary Airport and Fernie, or try the ultimate in airport and inter-resort transport, Bighorn Heli-Taxi Ski Resort Service. Kootenay Taxi offers a taxi and van service from Calgary Airport to Fernie. CSI Tours run a taxi service from Glacier National Airport.
