Getting to Pila

The most convenient airport for Pila is Turin Caselle, and many airlines fly there. Geneva in Switzerland is a reasonable alternative, with easy access through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Pila and other resorts in the Aosta Valley. Milan Malpensa is slightly further away, but is another viable option.

Getting to Pila by public transport

If travelling on a restricted budget, public transport is a feasible, but time consuming alternative.

There are limited bus services from Turin airport and Milan Lampugnano to Aosta, from where there are connecting buses, as well as a cable car, up to the resort, but no bus service from Milan Malpensa. The bus company website (www.savda.it), partially in English, provides quotes and a booking service online.

Driving to Pila

Hiring a car to drive to Pila from the airport is a reasonable option for those who don’t mind some driving on mountain roads.  Most of the hotels offer parking facilities, though garaging may incur an additional charge.

Road access to Pila is from the Aosta Valley A5 toll motorway.  The motorway exit for Pila is Aosta Est, some 18km from the resort. The last part of the drive is on fairly steep mountain roads and snow chains or winter tyres are essential and should be booked in advance.
