Getting to Pizol (Bad Ragaz – Wangs) is easy by road or rail from Zurich International Airport in around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Nearest Airports to Pizol, Bad Ragaz & Wangs

The Pizol ski area (50km of pistes) is approximately 4km from the world-renowned spa town of Bad Ragaz (and 0.5km from Wangs) in Eastern Switzerland.

The closest international airport is Zurich Airport, with transfers from the airport taking around 1 hour 15 minutes by car or 1 hour 50 minutes by rail to Zurich HB, then an IR35 express train (destination Chur) to Bad Ragaz.

Journey times from Zurich to Bad Ragaz and Wangs are similar. If travelling to Wangs, take the train to Sargans (one stop from Bad Ragaz), then take a 429 or 430 bus from Sargans.

Other airport options with similar transfer times include Friedrichshafen, Memmingen and Basel EuroAirport, but Zurich offers more flights and easy transfers.

Getting There By Rail

Getting from the airports to Bad Ragaz by rail is easy, thanks to reliable rail connections from multiple directions, including Zurich, Chur, St Gallen and Buchs.

From Zurich airport, the easiest and most direct rail route is the IR 35 Aare Linth (direction Chur), which gets you to Bad Ragaz in around 1 hour and 50 minutes. Even faster, the IC3 non-stop from Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main station) to Sargans will get you there in 1 hour 40 mins, but changing trains twice, not once.

Post Auto bus services 456 and 457 operate between Bad Ragaz train station and the Pizol Bad Ragaz gondola station, 4 km outside Bad Ragaz. If staying in or accessing the ski area from Wangs, take the train to Sargans (one stop from Bad Ragaz), then take bus routes 429 or 430 from Sargans railway station to Wangs.

Bus Lines 456 and 457 from Bad Ragaz to Pizol

The Post Auto Buses to Pizol Bad Ragaz ski lift station (4km outside Bad Ragaz) run every hour during the day and every 30 minutes during peak times in the morning and afternoon. A new timetable is planned to increase the bus frequency in time for the 2026/27 ski season. Note that bus route 456 (a multiple-stop service serving the whole community) takes about 20 minutes from the train station to the Pizolbahn Bad Ragaz ski lift.

Fortunately, from mid-December to early April, the 457 bus service provides a direct connection between Bad Ragaz train station and the Pizolbahn lift station. This shorter journey takes approximately 5 minutes. Bus travel from Bad Ragaz station to Pizol Bad Ragaz lift station is free of charge for ski pass holders.

Bus Lines 429 and 430 from Wangs to Pizol

If staying in Wangs or coming from Sargans, bus routes 429 and 430 run every 15-30 minutes between Sargans, Wangs and Pizolbahn Wangs lift station.

Driving to Pizol

Driving from Zurich Airport (125km / 1 hour 15 mins) is quicker than travelling by rail and bus, and you can explore other ski areas nearby more easily, notably, Flumserberg (65km of pistes), just a 30-minute drive from Bad Ragaz or Wangs.
