Something of a Lech legend as much because of its heritage as its famous après bar, the Eisbar, at the front of the Tannbergerhof when the weather turns sunnier and Lech’s smart set party as they sip vodka feiges and have the craic, as the Irish would say. And centre front of Lech virtually guarantees its primacy on the après circuit. At over 90 years old the Tannbergerhof is one of Lech’s historic pieces and its dark timber alpine facade with green shuttering  sets the tone as you enter the cosy ambiance of its traditional interiors.

The Tannberg bar, the old Martin Stuberl and restaurant all evoke a Vorarlberg from times gone by but now presented in easy comfort and style at this 4-star superior establishment.

Rooms and suites are pleasantly rustic and traditional but, following a recent major refurbishment, everything feels quite fresh, bright and cheerful in keeping with modern tastes. Accommodation is also offered at the Chalet Hilde a few minutes away but with free transfer service.

Traditional Austrian fare is served to the highest standards in the restaurant, which has a fondue and a farmers’ buffet once a week.

The hotel’s spa facilities include sauna, infrared cabin, steam bath and salt water grotto. Chalet Hilde also has an indoor pool.
